Clean the affected hoof area before use. Remove loose debris, manure, mud, and compromised material. Apply a thumb-sized amount into the affected sulci, central sulcus, white line void, frog crack, or hoof gap. Press firmly so the product fills the space and stays in contact with the hoof. For larger gaps or deeper sulci, more product may be needed.

Reapply every 48–72 hours, or as needed based on hoof condition, weather, turnout, and moisture exposure. Mud, wet turnout, heavy manure exposure, deep sulci, and high-moisture environments may all require more frequent reapplication. Always clean the area before reapplying.

Store Hoof Shield in a cool, dry place with the lid tightly closed. Keep it out of direct sunlight and avoid prolonged exposure to heat. No refrigeration needed — normal room or tack-room temperature is fine.

Heat may soften the product — keep the lid closed and allow it to cool before use. Cold temperatures may make it firmer — allow it to return to room temperature before applying. Do not microwave the product.

Add a very small amount of distilled water or alcohol-free witch hazel and mix slowly with a clean plastic, wood, or silicone tool until the clay returns to a workable consistency. Add moisture gradually — a little goes a long way. Avoid metal tools.

Hoof Shield should have a dense, packable clay texture — firm enough to stay in place but soft enough to press into cracks, sulci, and hoof voids.
